Gibsons Rosemont Michael Mondavi Wine Dinner

WHAT:          Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse in Rosemont announces their first event in Gibsons’ monthly Wine Dinner Series with an Oberon Napa Valley Wine Dinner featuring renowned winemaker Michael Mondavi and courses prepared by Gibsons’ Group Executive Chef Randy Waidner and Gibsons Rosemont Executive Chef Marco DiBenedetto on Monday, March 15 at 6:30 PM.

Michael Mondavi, the elder son of pioneering Napa winemaker Robert Mondavi, labored for almost four decades with his father, sister and brother to build the reputation and global reach of their family winery.  Mondavi’s son Rob is the winemaker for Folio’s American projects, which include Oberon.

The six-course event begins with Citrus Cured Scottish Salmon with Micro Vegetable Salad, Meyer Lemon and Crème Fraiche paired with Oberon Sauvignon Blanc 2007.  Four courses will follow, including Prime Beef Tenderloin Tartare with Micro Arugula, Quail Egg, Dijon Ice Cream and Pretzel Crostini paired with Hangtime Arroyo Secco, Ponto Noir 2006.  The meal will finish with a Chocolate Raspberry Tart with Crème Anglaise paired with Medusa Port.  Complete menu and wine pairings available below.

As a special treat for guests, Mondavi will sign bottles purchased at the dinner for patrons.

With the Oberon label – originally named for the eponymous king in Shakespeare’s winsome comedy A Midsummer Night’s Dream – the Mondavi family has created high-quality Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc to be enjoyed every day.  The Oberon winemakers select Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc grapes from some of Napa Valley’s finest vineyards in Oakville, Rutherford, Stags Leap and other emerging sub-appellations.  The climate of these regions – warm days and cool evenings – yield grapes with the perfect balance of ripe fruit flavors and natural acidity.
