Carnivale April Live Latin Music Schedule

This April, Carnivale will take its vibrant bar scene to the next level with a full schedule of live music featuring some of Chicago’s most renowned Latin bands.  Every Wednesday from 7:30 PM – 11:00 PM and every Sunday from 6:00 PM – 9:30 PM, guests will enjoy live Latin music and entertainment.  Admission is free. Carnivale presents their new resident musician, jazz singer Margaret Murphy, who will perform every Sunday evening from 6:00 PM – 9:30 PM throughout April.  Influenced by Carmen McRae, Billie Holiday and Sarah Vaughn and under the guidance of saxophonist Von Freeman, Margaret Murphy has quickly become one of Chicago’s most prominent female jazz performers.

Carnivale brings 2004 Grammy Nominee Angel Melendez and his quartet to the stage on Wednesday, April 14 when the skilled composer and trombonist will lead a smooth, yet uplifting jazz set sure to stir the audience in motion.  Having played some of the great Chicago venues including The Chicago Symphony Center, Millennium Park’s Pritzker Pavilion, The House of Blues and The Chicago Museum of Contemporary Art, Angel Melendez has grown to become one of the most recognized Latin musicians in Chicago.

Additional featured bands this April include Willie Gomez Con Cache on Wednesday, April 7 for a night filled with Latin tropical rhythms.  Specializing in Salsa, Mambo, Latin Jazz Merengue and Cha Cha Cha, Willie Gomez has played alongside Latin music icons such as Celia Cruz, Jimmy Bosch, Bobby Valentin, Willie Rosario, and Cano Estremera & Eddie Palmieri.
