Carnivale February Live Music Schedule

This February, Carnivale will take its vibrant bar scene to the next level with a full schedule of live music featuring some of Chicago’s most renowned Latin bands.  Every Wednesday from 7:30 PM – 11:00 PM, guests will enjoy live music and entertainment as they indulge in Carnivale’s soulful Latino cuisine and refreshing libations.  Admission is free (full schedule available below).

As a pre-music bonus, guests are invited to join Carnivale on Wednesday, February 23 from 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM as the Carnivale University Winter Quarter continues with South American Wine 101.  Carnivale Sommelier Rebecca Green will lead this hands-on class featuring wines from Chile, Argentina and more.  Guests will visit wine stations from different regions of South America with information about the wines, regions and countries along with paired appetizers created by Executive Chef David Dworshak.  Featured wines will include: Chono Reserva Carménère 2008 Maipo Valley, Cucao Pedro Ximenez 2009 Elqui Valley, Gouguenheim Torrontes 2009 and Malma Malbec 2009.  The cost is $25 per person, and reservations are required by calling (312) 850-5005.  

Skilled composer and trombonist and 2004 Grammy Nominee Angel Melendez along with his quartet will perform on both Wednesday, February 2 and 16.  Having played some of the great Chicago venues including The Chicago Symphony Center, Millennium Park’s Pritzker Pavilion, The House of Blues and The Chicago Museum of Contemporary Art, Angel Melendez has grown to become one of the most recognized Latin musicians in Chicago.

Texas de Brazil February Special: Seared Tuna

Texas de Brazil’s sixteen domestic locations announce an exciting addition to their already abundant menu.  This February, Seared Tuna served with a house-made tangy citrus sauce will be available daily on the salad bar and included in the regular menu price and salad bar only price throughout the month.

Guests are invited to sample this decadent special along with 50-60 seasonal items already on the sumptuous salad bar and the traditional cuts of seasoned beef, lamb, pork, chicken and Brazilian sausage for which Texas de Brazil is famous—all carved tableside in true Churrascaria fashion.  Diners can complete their Brazilian Steakhouse experience with a decadent dessert, after dinner drink, steaming espresso or hand-rolled cigar.

Seared Tuna is available for a limited time only, reservations recommended.

Chinese New Year at Red Light

WHAT: Red Light, Chicago’s venerable West Loop locale for Pan-Asian cuisine, celebrates Chinese New Year – the Year of the Rabbit – with a menu of savory specials featuring rabbit by their new Executive Chef Ryan Fowler.

Menu specials will include a Whole Roasted Rabbit ($60), which is meant to serve two people and only available while supplies last; Pulled Rabbit Siu Mai with a Spicy Mango Chili Sauce and Crunchy Thai Slaw ($10); Stuffed Fried Rabbit Loin, stuffed with Goat Cheese, Gailon and Dried Asian Pear served with a Rabbit Demi-Glace and Red Rice Risotto ($26); and a whimsical Carrot Cake for dessert ($8).

The Rabbit is the fourth animal in the 12-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac. Occupying the 4th position in the Chinese Zodiac, the Rabbit symbolizes such character traits as creativity, compassion, and sensitivity.

33 Club is offering new Wine Wednesdays specials beginning Wednesday, January 26.  The updated special will feature any bottle of wine on the menu at 33% off during both lunch and dinner.  33 Club’s extensive wine menu includes selections such as Mischief and Mayhem Chardonnay ($36; reg $55), Groth Cabernet ($63; reg $95), Stags Leap “Artemis” Cabernet ($70, reg $105) and more.
