Chicago Cut Benziger Wine Dinner

Chicago Cut Steakhouse announces an exciting 5-course wine dinner spotlighting wines from Benziger Family Winery lead by Kathy Benziger on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at 6:30 PM.

The 5-course event begins with Kummamoto Oyster with don Julio Plata Margarita Granite paired with Benziger Sauvignon Blanc 2009; followed by a salad of Organic Blood Oranges, Baby Red Beets, Sainte-Maure Goat Cheese and Baby Boston Lettuce finished with Champagne Dijon Vinaigrette and paired with Benziger Sangiacomo Chardonnay 2008; entrée selection is a 35-Day Aged Prime Barrel Cut Filet Mignon crowned with Hudson Valley Foie Gras in a Veal Demi accented with Benziger Tribute Meritage and paired with Sonoma County Cabernet 2007 among others.  For a sweet finish, guests will enjoy a Wild Organic Blueberry Upside Down Cake with Italian Peach Gelato. The wine tasting portion of the evening will be led by Kathy Benziger, proprietor of  Benziger Family Winery (bio below).  The Benziger family is dedicated to winemaking that reveals the true character of the vineyard, the varietal and the vintage in certified-sustainable, organically grown and Biodynamic® wines defined by individuality and the passion of the people who make them.  Through their commitment to natural farming and environmentally and socially responsible business practices, the Benzigers strive for sustainability and the preservation of their Sonoma Mountain family winery for generations to come.

About Kathy Benziger
The youngest of Bruno and Helen’s seven children, Kathy first came to work at the winery when she was a high school freshman. Soon after, she was pruning, picking, bottling and working in the tasting room. Kathy learned about the wine industry from the ground up and decided to make her mark in the business end of the operation by earning a degree in management from Sonoma State University. She then worked in sales positions at ADP in New York and Hoffman Distributing in New Jersey, preparing her for a move back East, where she would be the Benziger eastern region sales manager for 12 years. Today, Kathy lives in Sonoma with her husband Todd and is in charge of customer development in the sales and hospitality departments.
