Lake Geneva Dream Vacation Contest

With summer just around the corner, Bella Vista Suites will grant one lucky winner and their guest a weekend vacation with all Lake Geneva has to offer.  From May 25 to June 24, participants can share their ideal, three-night, four-day Lake Geneva getaway with a submission that should highlight a variety of activities and dining options.  The winner will be granted their exact dream vacation to include three activities, as well as breakfast, lunch and dinner (two of each) in downtown Lake Geneva along with a stay in a lovely Lakeside suite at Bella Vista; see below for a sample entry.

Koi Sushi Chef’s Table in June

Koi in Evanston’s new sushi chef Guosheng Yu’s passion for developing exciting sushi creations is demonstrated in this exclusive monthly dining experience.  Guests at the Chef’s Table are seated at the intimate sushi bar with a full view of the chef’s work area and will experience the creative process first-hand as they are treated to 8-courses.  They will watch as their menu samplings are handcrafted, paired with sake and explained by Chef Yu.  For added viewing, Chef’s Yu’s deft knife skills and artistic talents will be shown via live camera feed on an HD screen above the sushi bar.

This month’s Chef’s Table event will feature delicacies like Ebi Sonomono Seaweed SaladHamaguri Clam Soup, and Crispy and Crunchy Fire Maki among other creations.  Complete menu and descriptions are below. 

The first Tuesday of every month Chef Yu will showcase new recipes and creations for twelve lucky diners at the sushi bar.  The unique eight-course tasting menu will feature the freshest sushi in artful presentations paired with featured wines and sake.

Excalibur, Chicago’s venerable party castle, presents LIVE in the Dome every Thursday night featuring Chicago’s newest, up-and-coming Rock, Funk, Jazz and Alternative local bands.  The Dome room at Excalibur/Vision has been home to rock greats like Filter and Local H among others.

Guests can celebrate the start of summer on the patio at Carlucci Restaurant for their annual summer kickoff event while enjoying a fashion show, ten specialty martini stations and small bites.  Complimentary appetizers will include meatball sliders and items from the grill such as backyard chicken skewers.  Live music will be performed by diverse cover band SODA (www.sodarocks.com).

Table fifty-two Weekly Farm-to-Crust Pizza

Beginning May 23, TABLE fifty-two will offer a weekly Farm-to-Crust pizza featuring a rotating, stunning array of fresh, locally grown produce from the Green City Market.  Chef de Cuisine Rey Villalobos and Sous Chef John Vermiglio will visit the market each week and select the fresh ingredients for that week’s pizza.  The selection will be announced via TABLE fifty-two’s Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/Tablefiftytwo), where fans will have the opportunity to weigh in and comment on each week’s selection.

In the coming weeks, guests can look forward to ingredients like Green Garlic and Ramps from Green Gate Gardens at Fair Oak Farms and Red Thumb Fingerling Potatoes from Nichols Farms among other locally grown produce and locally raised meats.  The Farm-to-Crust pizzas make an excellent shared appetizer or an entrée for one.

Guests can enjoy watching as their Farm-to-Crust pizzas are prepared then fired in TABLE fifty-two’s wood-burning oven while seated at the intimate bar or in the main dining room.  No reservations are taken for the intimate bar seats, which are available first-come, first served.

Texas de Brazil Silver Oak Cellars Wine Dinner in Chicago

Texas de Brazil’s Chicago location announces an evening of fine dining and wine tasting in partnership with Silver Oak Cellars of Napa Valley.  The evening will feature 3-courses of items from Texas de Brazil’s signature 50-item salad area and seasoned, flame-grilled cuts of beef, lamb, pork, chicken and sausage, and decadent desserts paired perfectly with select wines from Silver Oak Cellars of Napa Valley. 

Texas de Brazil will pour Twomey Cellars by Silver Oak Pinot Noir as a welcome drink when guests start to arrive.  With the salad, they will pour Silver Oak Alexander Valley and with the meats, they will serve Silver Oak Napa Valley.  Guests will receive one six-ounce glass of the mentioned wines above.

Gibsons Oak Brook Hosts Charles Krug Wine Dinner

Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse in Oak Brook announces the next event in their 2011 Sommelier Dinner Series with a five-course Charles Krug Wine Dinner hosted by Peter Mondavi Jr. on Thursday, June 16 at 6:30 PM.  Executive Chef Brian Key has created a special menu that is perfectly paired with a selection of wines from Charles Krug (complete menu is available below).  Reservations are required. 

The first winery in the Napa Valley was founded in 1861 by Charles Krug.  Charles Krug Winery concentrates on handcrafted red Bordeaux varietals from Napa Valley appellations under the stewardship of the Peter Mondavi Family.  Peter Mondavi Jr. is the second son of Peter and Blanche Mondavi and grandson of Cesare and Rosa Mondavi, the Napa Valley pioneers who purchased the historic Charles Krug winery in 1943.  As co-proprietor with his brother Marc, he works closely with their father, Peter Sr., on issues of strategic importance, including stewardship of all the winery’s brands.
