Opera: Live in HD,” is a groundbreaking series of opera performances being transmitted into movie theatres worldwide. Guests can catch all the action at 6:30PM every Wednesday beginning June 15 through July 27 at the Kerasotes ShowPlace Icon Theatre located in the South Loop. The broadcast will be presented live on the big screen in the auditorium at Icon and feature cutting-edge digital cinema projectors with 26,000 watts of power for distortion-free listening.

La Fille du Regiment
Laurent Pelly’s hilarious production stars Natalie Dessay as the tomboy Marie, who has been brought up as the “daughter of the regiment,” and Juan Diego Flórez as the young man in love with her. Legendary actress Marian Seldes makes a special appearance as the Duchess of Krakenthorp and Marco Armiliato conducts.

Luc Bondy’s dramatic production of Puccini’s operatic thriller, which Le Monde called “a perfect night at the opera,” stars Karita Mattila in the title role. “I think Don Carlo is the quintessential Verdi opera,” says Director Nicholas Hytner, who made his Met debut with this production of the composer’s epic drama of love and politics. Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts Roberto Alagna in the title role, and Ferruccio Furlanetto, Marina Poplavskaya, Anna Smirnova, and Simon Keenlyside also star.
